An alleged murderer once listed among Canada’s “Top 25 Most Wanted” is in police custody.

Daniel “Juma” Atem, 31, was arrested on January 15 following a coordinated operation by the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) and federal authorities.

No injuries were reported during the arrest.

Atem had been on a Canada-wide warrant since July 29, 2023, when 32-year-old Roman Miller was fatally shot in Regina’s 2100 block of Broad Street.

In early 2024, the BOLO Program named Atem to the “Top 25 Most Wanted” list, which included a billboard campaign and a reward of up to $50,000.

WPS said Atem faces a charge of first-degree murder.

He is set to appear in court Thursday.

Afterward, Atem will be transferred to Regina for another court date.

His next court date in Regina is not scheduled.
