The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) has released its latest diversity-focused recruitment strategy, including hiring minorities and promoting women.
CAF states its mission to be not only a force that “meets operational requirements,” but one that “reflects the diversity of the Canadian population.”
As the Western Standard earlier reported, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) also recently updated their hiring standards to focus on diversity rather than merit.
The Canadian Forces Recruiting Group (CFRG) is now “actively seeking motivated CAF members to take on a key role in helping to attract top talent to the military, while also promoting diversity and inclusivity,” writes the Canadian Military Family Magazine.
“Successfully attracting and recruiting the best talent to the CAF requires that those selected to work in our recruiting teams exemplify professional excellence and embrace the importance of attracting a diversity of Canadians to the CAF,” reads CFRG guidelines.
Further, CAF recruiters will now be elevated to the same status as those who serve as operational command or tour leaders.
These recruiting positions are obtainable across Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.
In what the military magazine described as “a move designed to bolster diversity within the CAF,” CFRG is recruiting for two senior advisors focused on gender equality and indigenous engagement.
“These roles are critical to ensuring the recruiting process remains inclusive and aligned with CAF’s broader diversity goals,” wrote the magazine.
The guidelines say the “ideal; candidate” for the indigenous advisor role “will have experience as an indigenous CAF member and active engagement with indigenous communities and elders, and be motivated to enhance and promote CAF Indigenous Recruitment Efforts.”
The women’s advisor “ideal candidate will have lived experience as a woman in the CAF and be motivated to enhance and promote women’s recruiting efforts.”
